Bayamon is a bustling city located in the northern coastal valley of Puerto Rico. It is the second most populous city in Puerto Rico, situated just west of the capital, San Juan. As of the 2020 census, Bayamon has a population of approximately 170,000 people, making it the second-largest city in Puerto Rico after San Juan. The city is characterized by a diverse population, with a mix of different cultures and backgrounds. The majority of the population is of Hispanic descent, primarily Puerto Rican.

🏛️ History

Bayamon was founded by Juan Ramírez de Arellano on May 22, 1772. It was originally named after the local Taíno chief Bahamon. The city has a rich history, with many historical landmarks such as the “Casa Alcaldía” (City Hall), which is one of the oldest colonial buildings in the city, and the Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, built in the 18th century.
